Synopsis: I intend for the video to begin in a classroom during a test. It will be a wide shot of the whole room and it’s occupants with the main character seated nearest to the camera, and his enemy “nerd” classmate in shot, but on a table further back. The teacher will be walking around the tables making sure the class are being quiet. The shot will then change to a close-up of the main character falling asleep. The rest of the video will then be a dream sequence with the action corresponding to the lyrics of the song. For instance, the first verse will consist of a chess match between the main character and his rival; the 2nd a Pokémon based sequence and the 3rd a fighting battle, to eventually “win” his love interest. After defeating his enemy, the main character will then run to see his love, and see her dance/reveal she is a nerd, just like him. They then happily walk together playing a guitar and tambourine. When she takes off her mask however, it reveals that it is actually Tim the teacher. The main character then wakes up to discover his teacher looking at him angrily.
Treatment: A majority of the video will be shot infront of a green screen, then during the editing process we will turn the background of the various sequences white to create a dream like atmosphere. This will be done by simply using the programme Final Cut Pro. Whereas the beginning and closing scenes, whilst the main character is awake, will be filmed in a spare classroom. Each scene will be lighted by the simple techinique of 3-point lighting, to ensure that each scene is bright, conveying our intended theme of tounge-in-cheek parody.
Many props will be needed to illustrate each verse/chorus of the song. For instance, the first verse is regarding chess, therefore a chess set will be needed. We as a group are each contributing to supplying the various props, but we may possibly need to purchase a few items, and as we have no budget, will need to be paid for out of our own money.
